Day dress with cape c. 1835
Cotton muslin with chequered weave printed in Indienne (chintz-inspired) fabric. Donated by Mrs Felicity Walker. Narryna Heritage Museum collection NHM 1521.17
This day dress with cape is printed in emulation of Indian chintz with floral sprigs in beige, brown and green on a fine cotton with a large checked weave. The bodice features fine piping and Van Dyck appliqué with ruched trim at the top of full dropped sleeves. The collar is embroidered Ayrshire lace. The cape is lined with a glazed cotton. The dress was given fullness by multiple petticoats.
